    ZRT Laboratory Announces the ND Student Winners at the 2011 ZRT Cup

    Portland, Oregon 8/24/2011 - Last year’s champions, University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine (UBCNM) in Bridgeport, Connecticut, took home the fourth annual ZRT Cup defeating National University of Health Sciences, in Lombard, IL, in the final round held at the recent American Association of Naturopathic Physicians Conference in Phoenix. The ZRT Cup is a collegiate quiz bowl sponsored by ZRT Laboratory, designed to foster support for the quiet revolution taking place in the halls of academia where the naturopathic doctors of tomorrow are being rigorously educated and trained. It is presented by National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) and Naturopathic Medical Student Association (NMSA). 

    All seven CNME accredited naturopathic schools in the US and Canada are eligible to participate, and all students are invited to compete.  The winnings from the ZRT Cup ($7500 for first place and $2500 for second place) must be used to benefit ND students, schools, clinics or the naturopathic profession. Student competitors will be able to identify a current need and request that funds be used for that purpose.

    Dr. Fraser Smith, assistant dean of naturopathic medicine at National University said, "Our students competed against teams from much larger ND programs that could draw from hundreds of ND students, and a large number of upper year/intern students. I am proud of our group from National for this effort, and for being such a good reflection of our University -- not just in their solid knowledge, but in their professionalism and sportsmanship."
