Research Scientist

ZRT Laboratory is a CLIA certified laboratory committed to giving health care providers a complete look at their patient’s health through accurate, convenient and innovative lab testing to allow for optimal clinical outcomes. ZRT is based in Beaverton, Oregon but we have health care providers in all 50 states and 100 countries, and research teams worldwide, use our testing, including the CDC, NIH, and many renowned universities.

We are looking for a PhD Research Scientist to join the Laboratory team to design new laboratory-developed tests that follow laboratory practices and comply with Clinical Laboratory Information Act (CLIA) regulations required for the lab’s R&D goals.  

This entails working under the supervision of the President/CEO/Founder and in consultation with the Laboratory Director to establish short- and long-term experimental goals, perform complex testing procedures on research specimens, manage staff to develop new testing protocols that could be easily implemented on a large scale in a production setting that meet all the necessary quality control guidelines. 

The position of the Research Scientist involves working in close collaboration with the clinical and the marketing departments of the company.  Additional responsibilities include, experimental data analysis with the help of specialized graphical and analytical software tools, current peer-reviewed literature review pertaining to research concepts and projects and consistent communication in oral and written form with laboratory staff, clinical consultants, medical professionals and scientists within and outside of the ZRT organization.  Key pieces of the communication aspect of the position encompass writing clinical report comments, articles, white papers, blogs and literature for use at national conferences; and oral presentations in the form of webinars and speaking engagements at national conferences.    

The ideal candidate will have a PhD; must be organized and possess excellent analytical skills; be able to grasp and distill complex scientific concepts and be prepared to explain them in an accessible manner; possess excellent oral and written communication skills; be able to think independently and make critical, time-dependent decisions and; must be able to work independently and without direct supervision, and to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
