Thyroid Hormone Revolution: A Tale of Two Cities
Presenter: Nathan Goodyear, MD, MHD, ABAARM
Hormones have been oversimplified for decades. The clinical application of hormones in patient care, at best, is out of date; and worse, it is not evidence based. In simple terms, women are simply an estrogen-filled uterus and men are a testosterone-fueled erection; nothing more, nothing less. Nowhere is this more prevalent than in the relationship between hormones and cancer. Specifically, when it comes to thyroid and cancer, genomic signaling has been the only signaling pathway forward. But now, new research on non-genomic signaling points to a new understanding of thyroid, hormones, and cancer. It is a thyroid hormone revolution: a tale of two cities
